Momentary Relationships

This suitcase contains evidence from a performance. It’s a catalog of the connections I made with strangers. Starting with ten personal items, I went door-to-door like a traveling salesman, trading personal objects with people. This personal exchange of objects, allowed me to connect with people in the community. I used the bartering of objects as an icebreaker of sorts, in order to convince people to open up to me and develop a momentary relationship. This suitcase contains a collection of experiences I had while interacting with these people. I found this journey unexpectedly emotional, like numerous mini-relationships packed together, constantly moving back and forth through the phases of rejection, tears, love, and happiness.
